Obituary for Arvella Lovine Coffelt (McBride)
Arvella Lovine Coffelt, 89, of Winchester, VA passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in the Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, VA.
She was born August 22, 1929 in Hoy, WV, the daughter of the late David L. and Gladys Godlove McBride.
She married Kenneth Lenwood Coffelt, Sr. on August 28, 1948 in Winchester. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2007. Arvella held many jobs since the age of 18 and ended her Career with the Virginia
Employment Commission in 2002 when she retired. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Grace Brethren Church. She had also been a Sunday School teacher while her children were growing up. Arvella was a 1948 graduate of Capon Bridge High School, Capon Bridge, WV.
Surviving Arvella are her three children, Carol C. Bayliss (Max), of Winchester, Kathy C. Sasser (Greg), of Clear Brook, VA, and Kenneth L. Coffelt, Jr. (Kathy), of Winchester; four grandchildren, E. Elizabeth Gromis, of New Holland, PA, Krystina N. Sasser, Ryan M. Coffelt, and Logan L. Coffelt, all from Winchester; three great grandchildren, Josiah, Judah, and Jonah Gromis, of New Holland, PA; a brother, Fred A. McBride and three sisters, F. Jane Cave, Luella E. Cain, and Linda J. Kidwell, all of Winchester. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Ray A. McBride and Roger L. McBride; and two sisters, Mary M. Whitlock and Irma L. Luttrell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Jones Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Blue Ridge Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Davey Ermold officiating and assisted by Pastor Larry Geyner. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Whitlock, John Evans, Danny Fox, Mark Fox, Bill Virts and Greg Sasser.
