Obituary for Elettra Elena Morgan (Bennett)
Elettra Elena (Bennett) Morgan, 81, of Winchester, VA, passed away in her home on March 16, 2019.
Elettra was born in Erwin, West Virginia on August 1st, 1937 to James Peter Bennett and Esta Ellen (Helmick) Bennett. She was the 8th of fourteen children.
Elettra grew up in rural West Virginia, helping her family on different farms. She followed in her father’s footsteps with his love of animals and nature, cultivating home flower and vegetable gardens and canning the produce to feed her family. She loved the mountains and the outdoors.
Elettra worked for Corning Glass Works in Paden City, West Virginia. In her later years, she became a certified nursing assistant, working in nursing home facilities and with in-home care.
Elettra married Dorsey Lee Morgan on September 8, 1956 in Tyler County, WV. He preceded her in death.
Elettra is survived by her children: Daniel (Sheri) Morgan, Roger (Carol) Morgan, and David (Devon) Morgan, twelve grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Surviving siblings include Dorothy Drake of Morgantown, WV, Evelina Ashcraft and Lindy (Judy) Bennett of Quiet Dell, WV. She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rexrode officiating. Burial will be private at a later date at Craigs Chapel Cemetery in Wetzel County, WV.
