Obituary for Floyd Lee Shanholtz

Floyd L. Shanholtz, Sr., 94, of Winchester, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at his home.
Mr. Shanholtz was born March 15, 1924 in Charlottesville, VA; the son of the late Thomas and Mamie Shanholtz. He was a combat medic in the Philipines in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul’s on the Hill Episcopal Church. He formed and directed the Winchester Apple Capital Chorus and the Sweet Adelines.
He married Elizabeth Gordon on January 27, 1973 in Winchester.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Judy Leavell, Floyd Shanholtz, Jr., Deborah Pillow and Janet Crim; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s on the Hill Episcopal Church with The Rev. Susan S. MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
