Obituary

Michael David Zombro, 52, of New York, formerly of Winchester, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019.
He was born December 19, 1966 in Martinsburg, WV; the son of James and Diana Zombro of Winchester.
Michael was a member of First Baptist Church. A 1985 graduate of John Handley High School, he was a member of the wrestling team and the 84-85 State Football Championship team. He attended Hampden Sydney College. A US Navy Veteran, he served aboard the USS Saratoga during Operation Desert Storm. He was, currently, employed with Dewberry in New York.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Mark Zombro (Beverly), a niece and nephew, Claire and Carson Zombro, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. George Fletcher officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s name to Veterans Team Rubicon at www.teamrubiconusa.org or to the American Diabetes Association.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mike. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family. I knew Mike from the USS Saratoga. Rest in peace, Mike. Praying for comfort for the family.

This shocking news brings tears to my eyes. I have memories of Mike swaggering down the hall at Handley donning his Varsity letter jacket, Journey concerts, talking to friends in the commons. My prayers and heart are with Mike's family through this. This journey is far reaching and rocky.
