Obituary for Walter Loring Foster Jr.

Walter L. Foster, Jr. , 78, of Winchester, VA died Friday, March 15, 2019 surrounded by his family at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Walter was born August 22, 1940; the son of Loring Walter Foster and Lottie Lee Huff Foster Bayliss. He married Ada Lowery Foster July 6, 1987 in Winchester. They were married 31 1/2 years.
Walter is survived by his wife and children, Wesley Lewis (Sheryln) of Winchester, Walter “Skip” Foster, III (Gloria) of Stephens City, VA, Lora Ann Williams (Darren) of Winchester, Keith William Kiddy of Frederick, MD, Alan Benner of Stephens City, Edward Unger (Lillian) of Winchester, Scott Bowman of Winchester, Bambi Frank and Misti Wisman both of Harrisonburg VA; his brother, Bobby Jenkins (Edie) of Winchester; sisters Virginia “Boots” Peschke (Andy) of Winchester, Lorraine Faircloth of Ranson WV, Peggy Crews Thurmont, MD, Sina Stockman of Bunker Hill WV, and Jeanne Housden of Inwood, WV; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend and pal, his dog, Boo Boo. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 1 daughter, 2 brothers 2 sisters and 3 great grandchildren.
Walter was a carpenter by trade. He could build you a house from the ground up. He loved to make furniture and gadgets for family and friends. He was a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #47 in Winchester with meetings at the Calvary Brethren Church on 522 South. He was a lifetime member of the Winchester Horseshoe Club. Walter was a member of the Winchester Moose Lodge #1283 and the Eagle’s Club Aerie #824. He was a fun-loving person, who loved fishing, watching football, especially his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys, and bowling on the Friday night League at Northside Lanes with his wife and friends. If you could not find him doing one of these activities just check out back in his workshop, there was sure to be a new masterpiece being created. He had great charisma, if he met a stranger they soon became a friend.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 18, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 19th at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow at the Shenandoah Memorial Park on 522 South of Winchester. Pallbearers will be Scott Drummond, Michael Lowery, Darren Williams, Victor Riggleman, Terri Dellinger, and Jeremy Turman.

Family asks that anyone who would like to visit with the family after the service come to their home at 209 Crest Circle. They would enjoy your visit.
